Mission Impossible: Can You Get There From Here?

Folks throughout Southeast Michigan have trouble getting to work, doctors’ appointments or even the grocery store because of our region’s disconnected transit system. Don’t believe us? Try it – take the Mission Impossible: Can You Get There from Here challenge and let us know how you do!

Take public transit transit from Point A to Point B on one of the courses listed below and document your journey using the hashtag #CanYouGetThere. Be sure to include how long your journey took you, how many transfers were required and if you were able to complete it at all!

Challenge Courses:

  • Imagine your mom is in the hospital at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. How would you leave work in Southfield (10 Mile and Evergreen), visit your mom in the hospital, and get back home to Huntington Wood, all without a personal car?
  • If you live in downtown Inkster and are unable to drive, could you attend Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti?
  • How would you get from your job in downtown Ann Arbor to your home near downtown Westland if their car broke down?
  • Imagine you’re unemployed, can’t afford a car and are looking for work. How would you get from the eastside of Detroit to Novi’s Suburban Showplace Collection to participate in a job fair?
  • Can you get to Detroit Metro Airport from Roseville on a Sunday by transit?
  • Imagine you’re an autoworker and your car just broke down. Can you get from Ypsilanti (Washtenaw and Hewitt) to the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant?

  • Imagine you’re a University of Michigan student living in Ann Arbor without a car or license and applying for a summer job. How would you get to downtown Dearborn or downtown Detroit?
  • Imagine you’re a tourist visiting our region for the first time. You want to visit both The Henry Ford Museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts and Cranbrook. Can you visit these destinations in one day without a personal vehicle?
